Reliever Teachers in School
As we enter into winter we have teachers away sick. Most days we can find relief teachers to cover our sick teachers. Some days we can’t find relief teachers and unfortunately we have to split classes around the school. This is the last option for us but with the teacher shortage often we have no other choice but to split the class.
New Buddy Bench
Thank you to Bunnings who have donated our new buddy bench. The buddy bench was built by a number of children in Year 5 and 6.
A buddy bench is where children can go if they are feeling lonely, sad, or in need of a friend. The concept behind the buddy bench is to promote inclusivity, kindness, and friendship among students.
When a child sits on the buddy bench, it serves as a signal to other students that they are looking for someone to play with or talk to. It encourages empathy and teaches children to be aware of their peers’ feelings and to reach out with kindness.
We have two buddy benches at school.
Thank you to the following children who helped build and paint our new buddy bench:
Jayden Dale
Andrew Baek
Harry Russell
Anna Thongtawee
Timmy Watkins
Lewis West
Chloe Albert

PTA Disco
Thank you to our wonderful PTA who ran and organised our school disco last week. The children and adults all loved the disco and all had a great time. Thank you to everyone who helped out with this amazing event.
Our PTA are a group of fantastic, hard working parents who run amazing events for our children and our school community. I would like to thank our PTA for all their hard work and the fantastic effort they put into our school.
Thank you to all the children and parents for making last night such a successful night. We sold out of pretty much everything, even though we bought more than last year and the children had an absolute blast! Can’t wait to do it all over again next year!
Reporting a Child’s Absence
Please if your child is not coming to school for any reason please report their absence via the “Report an Absence” button on the school website. You will find this button at the bottom of the homepage. Thanks.

Interschool Football Tournament
Last Thursday, 4 teams of Year 5 and 6 students represented Silverdale School at the Annual Interschool Football Tournament. The day was perfect for football with the sun shining and dry grounds. Special mention to our A Grade Boys team who played hard throughout the day to get into the semi finals. Unfortunately they came away with a loss to a strong Warkworth School team. Proud of all of our students who played at the tournament with a good handful who had never played before and put in 100% effort. Thank you to our wonderful parents who managed a team for the day, you make these days possible. Nga mihi nui, Donna and Nick

We have been advised by our suppliers, that there will be new menu additions for Term 3:
Go Deli
- Rice Sandwich
- Butter Chicken and Rice (Thursday Only)
Sushi4U
Due to Go Deli’s wholesalers increasing their prices from the 17th July 2023, some of the menu items for their Catering and Cafe Corner menu will have some price increases. These price increases and new additions will come into effect in term 3.
