Sickness

We are noticing that we are sending a lot of children home with a tummy bug. Advice from the Ministry of Health on vomiting and diarrhoea bugs is: Don’t go to school, early childhood centre or work until well and for 48 hours after the last episode of diarrhoea or vomiting.

To help contain the spread please don’t send your child to school for 48 hours after last episode of diarrhoea or vomiting.

For more information on vomiting and diarrhoea bugs go to:

Country Show Day

Thank you to everyone who came along to our Country Show Day. This year’s Country Show Day was a fantastic event and everyone had a great time. It was fantastic to see so many people at our school enjoying our Country Show Day having not had one in 2021. The day had a brilliant feeling and many commented that it was the best one so far even with the rain. The amount of hard work and effort that goes into the organisation of an event this size is huge.

Thank you to everyone who has helped us in any way in the organisation of our Country Show Day. The PTA worked extremely hard in making this day an exciting and fun day for all. This is our major fundraising event of the year and it was great to see so many people supporting our school and children.

We are very lucky that we have a small group of very dedicated people putting their heart and soul into this event. Without the work of the PTA this event would be nowhere near the success that it was. I’m very grateful to this hard working group and all the effort they put into our school throughout the year.

Inter School Tag Day

On Tuesday 1 of November, Mrs Walton took three Year 5 teams to participate in a tag tournament against a number of other schools in our area. We had an awesome day in beautiful summer weather and the children put in a huge amount of effort. Our KERI values were on show. The competition was for Year 5 and 6 students, however our Year 6’s were unable to attend because of another event and our Year 5’s did amazingly well competing against some teams that were Year 6 only!  Big thanks to Matua Nick for organising the day, and to Lee Williamson and Dave Floyd for helping out.

Mobile Phones at At School

Please remind your children who bring mobile phones to school that they must be handed into their classroom teacher at the beginning of the day and then they can collect them at the end of the day.

Hats

Please make sure that your child has their school hat at school. The wearing of the school hat is compulsory during term 4. Children not wearing a school hat will have to sit in a shaded area during break times.

Crossing the Road Safely

We have noticed a trend of parents crossing with their children at the intersection of Millwater Parkway and Stella Maris Lane in the mornings. One morning we observed 2 parents literally stopping cars with their hands while they crossed the road with their small child on a bike. This is dangerous and not safe.

Please use the crossing and lights at the intersection of Millwater Parkway and Bankside. This intersection is the safest way to cross the road and you will be role modelling good behaviour to your children.

Walking School Bus

What is a Walking School Bus?

It is a group of children who walk together to/from school with parent supervisors along a set route.

Why should I join a Walking School Bus?

There are so many benefits of a walking school bus! Parents get to connect with one another, children get to have fun and get active, there is less congestion at school gates with more people walking which helps to improve the safety of the roads around schools.

We need you …

We have a family from Red Beach (Veronica Close off Hibiscus Coast Highway) who would like to start a new walking school bus route but we need more families to join.  Anyone from this area please let us know.

Who do I contact ?

Get in touch with Auckland Transport’s Community Transport Coordinator Louise Cameron (louise.cameron@at.govt.nz).

Softball is a fantastic team sport, come along and have a go!

Come on down to the Maker’s Market at Estuary Arts on the Western Rsv on Saturday 12 November from 2pm to 7pm (Rain date Sat 19 Nov). Avoid parking woes and ride your bikes down. Listen to local bands and young performers, have-a-go at free art and craft activities like printmaking, spinning and weaving or bring along a t-shirt to tie dye. There will be food trucks and art and craft stall selling wonderful locally made items, perfect for Christmas.
