Country Show Day
Our famous Country Show Day is this Saturday from 10.00m to 2.00pm. This fantastic day is our major school fundraiser for the year. Our amazing PTA has spent months and months organising this day and it will be a great day. For those of you who are new to the school, Silverdale School used to be a small rural school and we are in our 151st year as a school. In the past our children were encouraged to raise a farm animal, caring for and training the animal so that they can proudly show them in the animal ring on the day, to be crowned champion and then go onto the Helensville A&P Show to compete against other children from around the district. Children were still bringing in animals as late as 2016. The reason that we still keep the name Country Show Day is to keep with tradition and remember where we have come from. I look forward to seeing many of our community on Saturday.

The Resilience Project
The Resilience Project curriculum is a powerful part of how we support the mental health and wellbeing of our students at Silverdale School.
The founder of the programme Hugh Van Cuylenburg is touring New Zealand and will be appearing at the Bruce Mason Centre in Takapuna on Friday 4th and Saturday 5th November.
If you are already talking about The Resilience Project at home, or you would like to find out more, join Hugh as he walks you through his journey and tells stories of the incredible people who have inspired him and The Resilience Project to spread happiness. Hugh will unpack the research on mental health and break it down into simple tips that will leave you feeling empowered to improve your wellbeing.
Adults, parents, professionals, teenagers: this talk is for you. Well, really, it’s for anyone who wants to share a laugh and pick up some wellbeing tips along the way.
