Thank you
Thank you to everyone for their support and help throughout the week. Our teachers have been working hard to keep in contact with the children in their class. Parents have been working hard at distance learning. Children have been working hard at their learning. Through our distance learning site we have provided children with enough independent work for them to do alongside you. We appreciate you too will likely be working from home, so we do not expect this to be followed to the tee. The timetables and activity ideas provided are optional so feel free to adapt or run with your own ideas.
If you would like more resources for home learning this site from the Ministry of Education is an excellent site. https://learningfromhome.govt.nz/
School Chromebooks for Year 3, 4, 5 and 6
The government will announce on Monday if there will be an extension of Auckland staying in alert level 4. We have a plan for parents/caregivers to collect school chromebooks for their children if there is an extension. More information will follow to our Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 families on how they can collect their child’s school chromebooks if we stay in alert level 4.
School Closed to Everyone
Just a reminder that the school is closed for everyone while we are in alert level 4. We have two staff members accessing the school to feed the chickens and fish. Please remind your friends and family that no one is allowed on the school site especially the playgrounds.
Finally
The most important thing that you can do during this lockdown is to look after yourself and your families. Children missing a week or more of school is not going to affect them too much in the long run.
Well being of you and your family is critical.
Go to www.theresilienceproject.com.au/at-home/gem-tv each GEM TV episode explores a different evidence-based principle linked to positive mental health: Gratitude, Empathy, Mindfulness, Emotional Literacy and Connection.
TRP @ Home helps to connect the GEM principles with our families.
- TRP@Home provides families with resources, ideas and activities to practice GEM whilst at home.
- TRP@Home also includes a blog with articles relating to the GEM and its practice.
- Take home activities on TRP@Home linked to the classroom lessons.

Do what you can, do what feels right for you and your whanau, together we will get through this.
Have a great weekend.
Well we are back into Level 4 lockdown and our distance learning site is up and running.
Our distance learning programme is a mix of “online” and “offline” learning, we have developed a website that is available to everyone and can be used by everyone. We don’t expect you to become the “teacher” more of a support person for your child’s learning.
There is no pressure for you to use the website, it’s a guide for you on what you can be doing with your child if you want to. We have provided your child with enough independent work for them to do alongside you. We appreciate you too will likely be working from home, so we do not expect this to be followed to the tee.
The suggested timetables and activities are optional, feel free to make the timetable work for you and your family or run with your own ideas.
Zoom Meetings
Morning Zooms are a time for teachers to maintain classroom relationships and to set up children’s learning for the day. Teachers will check in with students to talk through the daily timetable and answer any questions students may have.
Teachers will email out a link for the daily Zoom beforehand. Team Pukeko and Tui students should be encouraged to read through their timetable for the day before their Zoom, so that they are ready with any questions that they may have about their day’s learning. Zooms will run for 15 minutes and teachers will organise a fun activity for Friday’s Zoom.
Teachers will Zoom with their classes Monday to Friday at the below times:
