Alert Level 4

Due to Auckland going into alert level 4 from Tuesday 17 August 11.59pm until Wednesday 25 August the school will be closed for everyone. Please make sure that you do not go onto the school grounds and playgrounds while we are in alert level 4.

This also means that children in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 will not be able to collect their chromebooks from school. If Auckland goes into alert level 3 then there will be an opportunity for parents/caregivers to collect their child’s chromebook from school. More information will come.

Distance Learning

Well we are back into Level 4 lockdown and our distance learning site is up and running.

Our distance learning programme is a mix of “online” and “offline” learning, we have developed a website that is available to everyone and can be used by everyone. We don’t expect you to become the “teacher” more of a support person for your child’s learning.

There is no pressure for you to use the website, it’s a guide for you on what you can be doing with your child if you want to. We have provided your child with enough independent work for them to do alongside you. We appreciate you too will likely be working from home, so we do not expect this to be followed to the tee.

The suggested timetables and activities are optional, feel free to make the timetable work for you and your family or run with your own ideas.

Zoom Meetings

Morning Zooms are a time for teachers to maintain classroom relationships and to set up children’s learning for the day. Teachers will check in with students to talk through the daily timetable and answer any questions students may have.

Teachers will email out a link for the daily Zoom beforehand. Team Pukeko and Tui students should be encouraged to read through their timetable for the day before their Zoom, so that they are ready with any questions that they may have about their day’s learning. Zooms will run for 15 minutes and teachers will organise a fun activity for Friday’s Zoom.

Teachers will Zoom with their classes Monday to Friday at the below times:

Team Kiwi	9:30am
Team Pukeko	10:00am
Team Tui	10:30am

Happy birthday to Raya Kayed, Ethan Jacobsohn, Ada Hefer, Neo Gibbs, Andrew Chang, Preesha Priya, Xiwei Zhang, Katerina Kernohan, Zara Genc, Mishti Uniyal, Xihuai Zhang, Elijah Gao, Poppy Harrod, Christopher Basson, Elsah Buchanan and Flavia Neiva.

Library

Our school library will be closed now due to us needing to use the space for classrooms. Currently we are using the hui room next to the library as a reception room. We still have another 40 five years to start this term. This is not an ideal situation but one that we can’t avoid. We are investigating ways of having books available for children to borrow and take home.

Year 6 Camp

Our Year 6 children were going to YMCA Camp Adair in Hunua, today but due to Auckland being in alert level 4 the camp has been postponed. We are hoping to find another date for the camp later this year.

Term 2 – Monday 2 May – Friday 8 July, Public holidays – Queen’s Birthday – Monday 6 June, Matariki – Friday 24 June

Term 3 – Monday 8 February – Friday 30 September, Public holidays – None

Term 4 – Monday 8 February – Tuesday 20 December, Public holidays – Labour Day – Monday 24 October

YUMMY STICKERS

Yes, it is that time again. Have you been munching and crunching your way through lots and lots of yummy, juicy apples but binned the stickers on them?

Don’t bin them anymore. Bring them to school and put them on a YUMMY sticker chart in your class to go towards some free sport gear for our school.

We have 5 weeks to get as many stickers as possible so get munching. Your sticker chart will be made available in your classroom.

F45 Silverdale

F45 Silverdale is super excited to partner with Silverdale School. Lots of school families are members at our gym and we can’t wait to do our first fundraiser together.

They will be providing a ’21 Day Kickstart for $50′. Valued at $198, this is a great way for first timers to come and see what all the fuss is about. All proceeds will go to our school. Feel free to use this yourself, or gift it to a friend.
