Year 5 Sleepover
Last week, our Year 5 students embarked on a special adventure: a sleepover at school. This experience was designed to prepare them for the excitement of Year 6 camp next year, offering a gentle introduction to sleeping away from home. The children slept in their classrooms, with their teachers providing wonderful support throughout the night. During the day, they participated in outdoor education activities, learning valuable skills like first aid, teamwork, and Morse code. A huge thank you to the wonderful teachers for their incredible hard mahi and effort in organising and running this memorable Year 5 Sleepover. Your time, energy, and care created a truly fantastic experience for our students.

Year 6 Camp
Last week, our Year 6 students enjoyed an unforgettable camp experience at Shakespear Regional Park. With two groups attending – one from Monday to Wednesday and the other from Wednesday to Friday – all children participated in a dynamic 3-day program. In small groups, they engaged in diverse activities designed to build self-confidence, foster new skills and friendships, overcome challenges, set goals, and simply enjoy the outdoors. We extend our sincere gratitude to all the parent helpers who contributed throughout the week. Your invaluable assistance ensured the success of many activities. A massive thank you is also due to our dedicated Year 6 teachers, led by Sarah Betts, for their exceptional hard mahi in organising this camp. The extensive planning, which began last year, reflects their commitment to creating a memorable experience for our students. We are immensely grateful for their time and effort. School camps like this create some of the most cherished primary school memories for our children.

Room 18 Camp Writing
5 senses camp – moment in time.
The slow, darkness, eating away everyone’s silence. I could feel my warm sleeping bag keeping me from the freezing cold air. I could see a dim light on the porch outside my cabin. I smelt the wet, stinky smell the swimming togs made from the salty sea water. I could taste the toothpaste that stuck to my teeth and braces.

I was hot, the sun scorching, sweat trickling down my face. I was going down the hill at lightning speed, I was so close to the end. I could smell fresh grass dancing though the wind as my mountain board flowed down the hill. I tasted a little bit of leaf. I saw grass fields that went on for km. I heard my board racing down the hill.

As we start building our raft I can start to see it coming together. I can taste the sand blowing into my mouth. I can feel the rope in my hands as I tie tight strong knots. I can smell the salty sea. I can hear the waves behind me going crash against the rocks.

Walking across the slippery rocks hearing the waves crashing.
Seeing the fish swimming by.
Tasting the salty water going in my mouth.
Smelling like fresh fish.
Touching the rustic metal.
