Whole School Cultural Day Friday 21 March
On Friday 21 March we will have a whole school Cultural Day. Children will be encouraged to wear their cultural dress to school to celebrate our diverse cultural identities. Optional in class: a shared lunch where families bring a dish to represent their culture. Your child’s classroom teacher will let you know if this will be happening in your child’s class.
Throughout the week (Monday 17 March – Thursday 20 March)
Each team/class will have the flexibility to plan activities and learning experiences that celebrate the different cultures represented within their class/team.
Possible activities that the children could do during the week:
- Cultural sharing: Children can share stories, objects, photos, or music that represent their cultural heritage.
- Cultural explorations: Engage in research, discussions, or art projects to learn about different cultures.
- Guest speakers: Invite members of the community to share their cultural experiences and knowledge.
- Cultural games and activities: Learn and play games from different cultures.
- Create cultural displays: Decorate classrooms with cultural artefacts, artwork, or flags.
Curriculum Refresh – Now Live on SchoolTalk!
We are delighted to announce that SchoolTalk has loaded the new English, and Mathematics & Statistics curriculums to our SchoolTalk platform. The refreshed curriculum, Te Mātaiaho, has learning progressions for English, and Mathematics & Statistics, that prioritises and explicitly describes what must be taught each year and is deliberately sequenced to enable students to build knowledge, skills, and competencies systematically over time. It supports teachers to design teaching programmes that bring learning to life in the classroom, using local, national, and global contexts.
