Sickness
We are noticing that we are sending a lot of children home with a tummy bug. Advice from the Ministry of Health on vomiting and diarrhoea bugs is: Don’t go to school, early childhood centre or work until well and for 48 hours after the last episode of diarrhoea or vomiting.
To help contain the spread please don’t send your child to school for 48 hours after last episode of diarrhoea or vomiting.
For more information on vomiting and diarrhoea bugs go to:

Congratulations
Congratulations to Josiah Toka who has been selected to play for the Auckland Cook Island National Touch team. This is a great accomplishment and we look forward to seeing his future successes on the sports field.

Year 5 and 6 Athletics Day at Metro Park
On Wednesday 9 November Team Tui spent the day at Metro park participating in a range of athletics including, discus, shot put, long jump and running events. It was great to see our tamariki using the KERI values as they cheered each other on and gave all the activities a go. The results from
The day will decide those students who will represent the school at the Year 5/6
Interschool Athletics later on this term. A big thank you to HBC Athletics club for providing the equipment and to Donna Kitching for all of her hard work organising the event.

World Kindness Day
Atawhai/kindness is one of Silverdale School’s KERI values. Sunday 13 November is World Kindness day. The theme for this year’s World Kindness Day is “Be Kind Whenever Possible.” This simple theme invokes a sense of responsibility on the individual to practise kindness and compassion in everyday life. Check out randomactsofkindness.org for some great ideas around how to make kindness the norm.

North Harbour Softball are offering a 6 week Tball coaching course at Silverdale School this term, on our school field straight after school from 3.15-4pm. Children can go straight from class to the fields to join in, parents are not required to stay during the sessions. This coaching is open to all age groups from years 1-6. All equipment needed is provided, children just need comfortable shoes and bring a water bottle.
This Thursday, at the first session, North Harbour softball are inviting children to come along to try out the first session for free. If they enjoy it, you can sign up and register to continue with the programme for 5 more weeks.
Softball is a fantastic team sport, come along and have a go!
