Alert Level 3 Schooling
At alert level 3 school is closed for the majority of children, any child who can’t be supervised at home by an appropriate person may attend school. The school will be operating 2 bubbles with each bubble having two staff members in it. Bubble 1 has 10 children with Laura Webster and Lynn Scott supervising the bubble and bubble 2 has 8 children with Jackie Boyd and Diane Pretty supervising the bubble. While the children are at school they will continue to complete their learning via our distance learning website. These tasks will be exactly the same whether children are learning from home or at school. This will ensure coherence and consistency in learning between home and school regardless of attendance, and will assist with teacher workload, relationships and connections. Chikldren at home can complete tasks at their own pace, while our staff will support children at school.
Lockdown tips with Dr Hinemoa Elder and Nathan Wallis
If you’re the parent of a child or teenager in Auckland, you might be feeling a bit anxious about their wellbeing during the extended lockdown or Alert Level 3.
This is normal – all young people are different and will show stress in different ways.
For example:
- not eating well
- spending long periods of time in their room alone
- not doing any physical activity, and
- disengaging from online work
Watch this video with Dr Hinemoa Elder (Child Adolescent Psychiatrist) and Nathan Wallis (Neuroscience Educator) who describe what you can do if you have concerns.
Face Mask Wearing at School
For children who are not in Year 9 or above, it is not mandatory to wear face coverings. Any children or staff who wish to wear face coverings wrapped around the nose and mouth at school may do so if they want to. Public health recommends that the focus for primary school aged children is on getting children to cough and sneeze into their elbow, and wash and dry hands/hand hygiene.
Once we are back at school at alert level 2 we will require all visitors to school to wear a mask.
More information about what alert level 2 schooling will look like will come out next week.
