Kapa Haka Concert 2020

Come and see our tamariki as they come together for our final kapa haka performance of the year!

On the evening of Pōtū, te 8 o Hakihea/Tuesday 8 December at 6.30 pm, our wonderful kapa haka rōpū will be performing in our school hall. We have missed out on our annual Tū Māia Festival due to Covid-19 so this is an opportunity for our tamariki to be able to finally stand on a stage and perform.

We hope to see as many of our Silverdale whānau on the night!

Silverdale School Flippa Ball, Sunday November 22nd

The Fins had their work cut out for them tonight when they were up against the Swordfish, who were fresh off a game. energised and ready for action.  First whistle and the Swordfish gained possession of the ball, exercising their dominance as they went on to score very quickly.  There was some swift passing from Julian Beall, who, as we were down one player, was midfield and assistant Striker over to our resident Striker Alice Bauld.  Not to be outdone, Alice very quickly matched the Swordfish with a successful goal of her own, taking the score to 1 all.  Goalie Jamie Welch was definitely put through his paces and while he made some awesome saves the ball managed to sneak past him taking the score to 2-1 to the Swordfish.  Alice and Julian had their fair share of shots up our end but their will was no match for the focus of the Swordfish Goalie who repeatedly successfully intercepted the Fins attempts to score.  With all the will and determination demonstrated by Alissa Hurter who had some serious action going on up her end, along with Blake Thow and Zack Gibbins constant defending and attacking, by half time the Swordfish had the lead at 5-1, and it looked likely the Fins winning streak could finally be coming to an end.  Second half and some great ball play was witnessed between Jack Wooller and Alissa who between them managed to repeatedly get the ball up our end.   Julian was up front constantly trying to score but a Goal for the Fins was not to be this time around, and the Swordfish scored yet again.  Following some awesome defense by Blake, Zack, and Alissa, the ball managed to be successfully executed by Alice, taking the score to 5-2.  And continuing on with her swift shooting Alice quickly spotted the goal unattended and scored yet again.  Go Alice!  The gap was beginning to close until the Swordfish managed to score once more.  Oh dear.  Alissa, Jack, and Blake were swimming hard out the entire time trying to regain possession and get the ball where it needed to be.  Finally things started looking as though the  Fins collective efforts might be paying off when Zack scored an excellent goal, and Jamie, Alissa, and Blake did not allow the opposition any opportunity to score further.  Just before the final whistle, Jack followed up Zacks goal with a stunner of his own, his slick shot making the ball slide on in to that goal with the skill of a pro, closing the gap to a very close 7-5 to the Swordfish.  Player of the Day went to Julian Beall (pictured).  Julian worked very hard during a highly competitive game, relentlessly attacking and shooting, and swimming hard out.  His passing was accurate and he did not slacken off once, keeping his focus and energy levels where they needed to be, showing great tenacity and grit.  Well done Julian, and well done Fins!
