BOARD OF TRUSTEES NEWSLETTER
23 March 2020
Dear Parents, Caregivers, Students and Staff,
We are aware that this is an unsettling time for everyone as New Zealand’s response to COVID-19 continues to rapidly evolve. We want to thank you for your ongoing support of our school community as we collectively navigate these events.
The Board and our Principal Cameron Lockie receive daily updates from the Ministry of Education and the New Zealand School Trustees Association. We are closely following recommendations via these official channels and Cameron is working closely with his leadership team to ensure a proactive and responsive approach to the changing situation.
We wish to reiterate everything that our Principal Cameron Lockie has implemented into our school. The school will:
- Continue to follow official Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health advice
- Engage in continuous risk assessment for all school activities and events
- Keep the school community updated via the website, school app and emails
- Promptly advise of any changes to advice from the Ministry of Education
- Remind staff and children regarding hand washing and hygiene practices
- Respond to any issues with soap in bathrooms as soon as they become known
The official advice continues to be:
- Stay home if you are not well
- Wash hands thoroughly
- Cover your mouth and nose if coughing or sneezing (using your elbow or tissue that you dispose of)
- No hugs, hongi or handshakes
- Avoid touching your face
Please help us in following and reminding your children of these guidelines. There are some excellent resources which Cameron has already referred to developed by Dr Michelle Dickinson (aka Nanogirl).
